Community Council News:-

Change of speed limits for Shirenewton and Mynyddbach:-

Speed reduction plan starts –
Residents will shortly see more work being undertaken by the highways Department of Monmouthshire County Council in the village and we see the introduction of the speed reduction plan.
Councillors of the Community Council recently took the opportunity to walk the route as outlined in the plan/s prepared by the Head of Infrastructure, Networks and Sustainability at MCC. (See attached)
The plan was discussed at the recent meeting of the Community Council held on Monday 23 May. It was noted that some of the issues the Community Council identified fall outside the plan and it was agreed that the Community Council would draw MCC attention to our concerns and ask if they can be dealt with as a matter of urgency.

The concerns are:-
– Enforcement of cutting of hedges where road traffic signs are covered by vegetation.
– Road surface marking on the road itself, Give Way, Slow etc.
– New poles for signage that are currently not included in the plan.
– New bilingual Shirenewton Signs to replace those that currently do not conform to current regulations.
– Replacement of very old signage in the village.

The work on the plan should be completed during the next two to three weeks.
